The
Crisis Pregnancy Center of Gaston
County, Inc. is seizing the moment
with an opportunity to expand its
services by co-laboring to build the
Place of Refuge, Inc. After serving
Gaston County for 19 years we have an
even stronger appreciation for the hurts
and needs of those who have experienced
an abortion. Now, sensing a calling to
serve those under the protection of the
mercy of God, the Place of Refuge, Inc.
would house a fourfold ministry that
includes; An Expanded Medical
Clinic, that would provide STD, GC
and HIV testing, initially opened on
Sept. 15, 2001 at our present location
on 3303 Union Road, serving free first
trimester ultrasound to 52 clients in
2001, 95 in 2002, 96 in 2003, and 86 in
2004. Currently we offer free
ultrasounds to ladies in the first
trimester who could otherwise not afford
them. The clinic meets OSHA and CLIA
guidelines. This staff position is
already budgeted.
The Adolescent Parenting Program,
acquired Sept. 17, 2001 from DDS,
currently functions at the CPC location
and works with 12 -20 girls who need to
delay a second pregnancy through
abstinence and finish high school.
Helping these ladies to secure an
education, and providing mentors is
changing the way they view life. This
staff position is already funded.
An Adoption Agency, which
would concentrate on the ministry of
adoption would be the only one in Gaston
County and thereby make it more feasible
for our citizens to make this life
giving choice. Expenses are often
prohibitive for families who are willing
to adopt a child. We receive an average
of 2-3 request per week from
adoptive/wanting to place families. This
staff person’s salary would come from
adoptive families.
A Counseling Center that would
allow our present clients to take
another step in moving from crisis to
resolution. The cost of counseling
is prohibitive for most of our
clientele, yet some investment of
finances would be on a sliding income
scale to offset this person’s salary. We
have experimented with the need for
counseling and found
a very high demand for these services.
This 9000 to 10,000 square feet
facility will be built fronting Robinson
Road. The funds to pay for the land have
been received from various sources but
mainly from change raised in Baby
Bottles. We are hoping that this will be
a community effort as we draw resources
and talents from everyone. Our
commitment is to build debt free.
God is our provider through His
servants. |
